Today I woke up at 6am like normal, went through my morning routine and left my house at 7am to something beautiful.
The sky was a perfect periwinkle blue, the morning clouds shades of pink, orange and purple that I can't even describe. Looking to the right before I pulled out of my neighborhood, I saw a perfect full moon, the biggest I've ever seen it, still hanging low in the sky. It was no longer while, but was a mix of orange and red.
I hated the fact I had to hurry to school and along the 20 minute ride I saw all the signs of the pure beauty of the morning disappearing. It began to get brighter, more cars came out and the pretty colors were replaced by the yellow sunbeams.
But all this came back to me as I left work tonight heading to church. It was just as pretty as this morning, and when I left church to head home, the brilliant white moon was once again glowing in the dark .
How often do we take these things for granted? The sun and moon switch places everyday; always have, always will. How often do we slow down our lives to just look at the beauty surrounding us? Our eyes are focused on the road, on traffic symbols and little tiny glowing screens. We are to busy hitting the mall, pouring over our books, wasting hours at the computer or at work to notice the simple beauty that is the world around us.
Here's a challenge to anyone who reads this, whenever you read this. Wake up early sometime and watch the sunrise, or clear your evening to watch the sunset. I know its February and its kinda cold out there...but take some blankets, a cup of tea or whatever you want to keep you warm, and just take in the beauty that we so often take for granted.
I'm so thankful for my morning drives to school...between that, my music from Christian station KVNE, I am reminded of how truly awesome our God is!
~Genesis 1:16-18- God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.~
